Installed the unit easily, like any other AC unit. The plastic grate that covers the air filter, as well as the filter itself, rattles very badly, and the noise is very annoying, but with some cardboard shims in place around it, its quieted down at least a little. But after a few days of good use, in power saver mode mind you, so it only kicks on when needed, the fan has started to make some annoying noise as well, maybe a loose belt, not sure, but when i turn the fan on high, the noise im hearing goes away. Other then those issues, which are still very livable, my only little thought is that the remote could be a little better, as i seem to need to aim very precisely to get it to work. Would buy again, as it cools very well, and enjoy the power saver mode, and digital readout, are very nice compaired to old units ive had.
Just wish the build was a tad better. Yes (1) No (0)  Report Yes (1) No (0) Verified purchaser Verified purchaser Have only used unit for a few weeks. It has performed very well. Bought this unit on the ratings from consumer reports as being quieter than others. That was the most important feature for me. I have 2 other units (non LG), and they are a bit noisier. Am using it in a 270 sq ft room and it delivers as advertised. Only slight negative is it has had a slight burning smell when new. Called LG customer service re the smell. They said it was normal and it would gradually dissipate. It has just about disappeared in the few weeks of operation. So far so good. Really like the "dehumidifier only" feature when we only need to remove moisture in the air. Unit is small in size - same size as a 5-6000 BTU unit.
great if you have a larger room with a smaller window. I don't blame the product, LG. The fault lies with the carrier(s). Perhaps the words, 'HANDLE WITH CARE' should have been written on the box because when I opened it, there were dents in the grill and the front casing was dislodged. A second, smaller unit was also defective and returned. how to charge an air conditioner unitI should have returned this larger unit also but was desperate because it was 97 degrees. how an hvac worksHowever, it made SO much noise it became unbearable and I risked eviction for disturbing the peace.how much does ac units cost
Yes (1) No (0)  Report Yes (1) No (0) Verified purchaser Verified purchaser Versatile, compact, and easy to set up. Very reliable, strong built and good quality. I hope LG will add a small heating unit to this same model. Yes (0) No (0)  Report Yes (0) No (0) Verified purchaser Verified purchaser Item was received just what was ordered. Window mounting requires a little care since the weight is on the outside of the window than towards centered of the unit. So support is recommended on the outside. Yes (3) No (1)  Report Yes (3) No (1) Verified purchaser Verified purchaser The unit performs flawlessly. However, I wish the manufacturer had included some optional foam pices to cover the "accordion" sides. Also, there was some cosmetic damage because the carton apparently wasn't robust enough for shipping Yes (0) No (0)  Report Yes (0) No (0) Verified purchaser Verified purchaser I did loads of research before choosing this model, using Consumer Reports and user reviews.
I didn't specifically read the bad reviews because there are bad reviews for every product so you have to take them with a grain of salt. I generally look at the ratio of good reviews vs. bad reviews. And this had a lot of positive reviews, so we picked this model. When we installed it, it made a horrible noise! I've since gone back and read some of the bad reviews, and one reviewer said it sounded like a loud version of when you stuck a playing card in the spokes of your bicycle wheel - which was a dead-on description. Clearly something wasn't right. My husband pressed the different cycles on the A/C and the initial noise went away. But the A/C was still very loud in general. We decided we didn't want to keep it. So as he took it out of the window to re-package it up for the return, we noticed a big dent in the back of the A/C. The box it came in was not at all damaged, so that means the dent happened in the factory, and not during shipping. So, clearly there was damage and problems with this particular A/C.
Maybe the undamaged A/Cs of this model are great, but ours was not. We returned it and switched brands. Yes (3) No (1)  Report Yes (3) No (1) Verified purchaser I am very pleased with this 8,000 BTU window air conditioner. Works well and is relatively quiet for my bedroom. A great replacement for my last 5,000 BTU window unit. Yes (4) No (0)  Report Yes (4) No (0) Verified purchaser I purchased this AC based on Consumer Reports ratings. This is usually a great way to know how different products perform. I needed an AC that was light enough for me to install by myself. So after using this AC for 3 weeks I would say it's average. The stats on the product were accurate, it was easy yo install, & it does a good job of cooling, but it is a noisy. I'm not going to return the AC, but I can't recommend the product. The service from Walmart was great.
