Items marked Caution, Caustic, Corrosive, Danger, Flammable, Poison, Volatile, or Warning should be considered a hazardous waste product and proper disposal is required. Do NOT place in garbage. Acorns can be included with grass clippings and leaves. Each bag must weigh less than 40 lbs. Do not use bags larger than 33 gallons. State law prohibits disposing of yard waste with the garbage. South Transfer Station does not accept yard waste. Yard waste collected mid-April through mid-November, weather permitting. Do NOT place in the garbage cart. If not empty (still has liquid or pressure left), then Federal law requires treating pressurized cans as hazardous waste.

Aerosol cans that are not empty may leak or explode during sorting or baling. Do NOT place in the garbage cart. Go to Hennepin County's Green Disposal Guide for additional information. This item collected on recycling week only. Limit of 2 large items per recycling week. Place next to the garbage cart on the recycling day. Please post a sign or write on the item "For Solid Waste". Item will be picked up on next business day after recycling day. NO AMMONIA COOLED AIR CONDITIONERS ARE ACCEPTED. Ammunition: Explosives & GunsNot collected or accepted by Solid Waste & Recycling or with a voucher at the South Transfer Station. If you find ammunition that is corroded or appears unsafe due to how it was stored or an item that may be an explosive, do not move it--call 911.Go to Hennepin County's Green Disposal Guide for additional information. Farm Animals: Call the MN Board of Animal Health. Road Kill: Call the road authority that has immediate responsibility.  This will either be Hennepin County or the City's Street Department. Rendering Services: Call the Minnesota Board of Animal Health. If the answering machine contains a battery, remove the battery. Hennepin County's HHW & Drop-Off Facilities will accept for recycling. If unable to deliver to Hennepin County, bag and place the answering machine inside the garbage cart.

Please remember to recycle the battery by placing it in a plastic bag on top of your recycling cart. This item collected on garbage pickup day. Limit of 2 large items per garbage day. Make sure the ashes have cooled before double bagging.  Ashes are not accepted in the organics program due to chemicals in charcoal and/or lighter fluid. Disposal with garbage is prohibited.
