The buildings can only operate one system or the other, they can not be run concurrently. It will not be a regular practice to transition back and forth in the event of a brief warm period late in fall or early in spring.
In general, residents of these buildings should not expect air-conditioning beyond October 1 or before May 15. As a result, requests for housing in a building with air conditioning are not considered as the air conditioning in these buildings is not turned on for most of the academic year. If a College student applying for housing believes they need air conditioning for a medical condition, they should request housing in a building other than Burton-Judson, Campus North Residential Commons, International House, Max Palevsky Residential Commons, Renee Granville-Grossman Residential Commons, or Stony Island so that they may request permission, with documentation from their treating physician, to install a window air conditioner.air handling unit ukHome › Cooling Service › Emergency AC Repair Serviceac unit filter We repair air conditioners and HVAC systems all over the Chicagoland area. mini ac unit for room

Simple Things to Check Before Calling Mr. Duct You can always count on Mr. Duct arriving promptly for air conditioning repair and cooling service, but here are a few simple things to try before calling: Air Conditioning Equipment ChecklistCheck to make sure that your thermostat is set in the "cool" position.
Ensure that your outdoor condensing unit is running. Check the circuit breakers in the circuit breaker box (or electrical panel), most likely mounted to an outside wall in the back of the house. Make sure they are all in the "ON" position. Check the outdoor unit "disconnect switch" to make sure it is in the "ON" position. The disconnect switch is located near the outdoor unit. (Normally a grey 8" wide x 16" high x 4" deep box mounted to the wall). Ensure that the blower motor in your furnace is running. (If the thermostat is in the "cool" position, the furnace blower should be running.) If not, check to make sure the on/off switch at the furnace is in the "ON" position. Be sure that you have changed your filter in the furnace recently. An extremely blocked filter can cause your outdoor air conditioning unit to shut down due to lack of proper airflow. Check all return air grilles to make sure they are not blocked by furniture. Furniture should be moved at least four inches away from return air grilles to allow for adequate air supply.
