I've walked by and the air changes from hot to cold and then the unit turns off.  It cuts off and on often.  This happened more on the energy saver mode so I changed it to heat.  It still happens a lot.  It is louder than my last unit.  $600+ to ONLY take the chill out of the air is not a good deal.  I would at least like to feel warm. remote did not work, cabinet dent, and coil leaking While this unit is expensive it is worth every penny. It heats up and cools down my very very large garage to the point where I have to open the door to cool it down. There is a thermostat so most times it shuts itself off before you realize it is too warm. Super quiet operation too. I am very glad that I spent the little extra and got this unit. DO make note of some of the other reviews that say you need to do some prep electrical work in order to get this to work properly so budget for an electrician. This high BTU Kenmore "window" AC/Heat unit works well. It easily heats or cools our somewhat over sized living room.

We actually mounted it through a wall -- be careful not to cover its vents (max wall sleeve depth of 9 inches). Tip: it is heavy (guess 55 pounds) and easier to install with two people. Remember: it requires 230 volts at 30 amps. The heat will warm a large room if it's on atleast 80 degrees. The air will cool a large space if it's down on 60 degrees. fills house full of dead insects called sears numerous times got hung up several times getting switched from person to person a tech finally came out and looked with his flashlight never pulled the unit out to look n said to put screen over it I have a hundred dollar unit in the bedroom without screen on it and no problems will not buy another Kenmore again This thing packs a punch I love it.
