and yes you better already have the thing installed that this slips into otherwise you'll be buying one since this really needs something in the wall to slip into. Both valid concerns, neither were mine since we figured out the A/C installation and we had a chassis already in place. BUT OH MY GOD this is the NOISIEST air conditioner I have EVER seen or heard. We've had many, the last being an Emerson, but I have never ever heard something THIS LOUD. I use to have my desk 10 ft from the old Emerson, no problem. I now have had to rearrange my entire living and dining room to move my desk to the furthermost area, where the dining table was and next to the bar into the kitchen, some 45 ft away, and it is STILL TOO LOUD. Today I woke up with a headache from it overnight, it has continued, and now I don't even use it because it only brings back the headache. My hubby said 'no returning it' but when he is gone I am un-installing it and even without the box (good luck keeping the box together when you have to rip it apart to get to it, and I will find me another brand that fits into my chassis... but NEVER EVER an ARCTIC KING again.

And the pix, I am sitting at my desk and that thing way over there - that is the A/C and its TOO LOUD even from way over here. I have to wire the building for 220volt. luckily I can do that since only a shell exists now. the sleeve is a different deal. I called the customer service number listed in the instruction manual. I had to buy a sleeve for $50 plus $30 shipping. rather that repack the unit and go through the hassle of returning it, I just paid the 80 bucks... BTW the manual has info for 7-8 units of different names and measurements. it only says Arctic King on the front cover and in the back on the warranty card. the measurements do not match any of brands in the inside and none have anything to do with a window mounted unit.

We were very pleased that it comes with a smaller 220 plug, not the large dryer style plug. If you are planning on installing this in a window, be prepared. It says window/through the wall, however does not come with any of the standard parts or screw holes for window installation. You will need to employ some creative engineering. Ours is in a standard double hung vinyl window, with about a 15in open height. The specs say this is only 14.5in high, not so much. We had to take out the main sash. We will also be purchasing an ac support, heavy duty. The installation manual includes directions for 9 different wall sleeves. It was also shipped with an interior trim frame, and lots of the foam seals, in various shapes and sizes for installation as well as 2 rear grills.

My best guess is one goes on the unit the other is to replace in a sleeve. I tried to research this product on line before purchase and came up empty handed. For the cost and features, I'm quite pleased. We needed an AC/Heat unit and other options we've looked at in the past were too small for our room and twice the cost. I've seen this model on other site for close to $600. For what it's worth we're in the south, high temps and high humidity, and within minutes of turning on the unit, our room was cool. I won't comment on the noise level, only because I've never had a unit this large. It's also in the only window in our room next to the TV. I will say there isn't excessive vibrations, or rattling. This is a wall unit, not a window unit. It did not come with window slides so after a lot of retrofitting, we made it work after spending another $100 and a few hours of time.

Other than that, the unit seems to be working fine. So far I have only installed one and my house is already staying cool in this hundred degree heat. So other than the installation, I am satisfied with my purchase. The 3 prong plug is a special type that it wont fit most common electrical outlets and 2.

The watt specifications was not clear to me (unless you know about all that sort of stuff) bottom line i couldn't install it because i would have to add a circuit breaker and add an additional outlet to handle the watt output this ac takes.
