It cools very, very well! My apartment is somewhat small and I keep the bedroom door closed during the day; open it an hour or so before bed and turn on a fan in the br doorway. This a/c is almost perfect! The only issue I have had with it is when I run it in Energy Saver mode. It worked for about a month or so, then it would run a few minutes, shut off and not start up again. I run it in normal cool mode and it works wonderfully! I would strongly recommend this air conditioner to anyone that needs to cool a very large room or two, or if your apartment is small, it will do the whole place very nicely. And the cost of running it has been surprisingly low!
I run it constantly, day and night, and was pleasantly surprised by my last electric bill - especially with how hot and extremely humid it has been this summer. My old unit was probably from the 70's when the house was built and did not work anymore. Window units were out of the question because I have casement windows throughout the house. I couldn't afford to put in any full house system so I looked for a unit that would fit my existing hole. This one came with a trim kit so that you don't even know it is not the same size as the old one. A friend removed the old one and installed the new one using a drill for the new back panel and other simple hand tools. It is quite heavy (over 80 lbs) so I would have had trouble lifting and positioning it by myself. I am happy with the result. The only reason for less than 5 stars is that it is still somewhat noisy to run.
Yes () No (1)  Report Yes () No (1) Verified purchaser Seems to work well in the limited time we've used it. It is a little spendy and you do need to get a wall sleeve (EA108T 18 inch sleeve kit) for it if you don't already have a wall sleeve to fit it into. It will fit into other sleeves, so double check the dimensions. The dimensions listed on the website are out of order. They are 24"W X 14.5"H X 20.5"D. Not sure how the power drain is yet, as we haven't received our electric bill since putting it in. Also, the cord happens to be on the opposite side (left) from our old unit, so the power cord just BARELY reaches the outlet. It was not cheap but I think overall it is quite a good air conditioner. Yes () No (2)  Report Yes () No (2) Bought this because i thought my 15 year old ac sounded funny.
It broke 2 days before our worst heat wave in 20 years. Works great, very pleased overall. My only complaint is that one needs to purchase a "wall sleeve" in order to install this "through the wall" unit and nowhere does it warn you of that. I picked it up at my local store, started reading the installation instructions, and realized the "sleeve" was NOT INCLUDED WITH THE UNIT. ...other than that, the item works very well so far...but remember that a "through the wall air conditioner" needs a wall sleeve...! Yes () No (4)  Report Yes () No (4) I recently purchased both this Frigidaire 12,000-BTU and the Frigidaire 8000-BTU through the wall units from Walmart for a home office and bedroom respectively. The larger unit cools the entire upstairs including my office, TV room; large bathroom and sunken tub area; an open but separate dining room, living room, and kitchen. Sometimes we add the 8000-BTU bedroom unit to the mix if it's really hot outside. The 8000-BTU model is fine for a comfortable sized bedroom.
We rarely need to run the fan on high. Both have identical remotes that I originally didn't think I'd need or use. They have many useful features and settings, and after living with them a while I wouldn't do without them. The small remote units control on/off, temperature setting with an LED display on the air conditioner, sleep setting that starts with your initial setting and moves up two degrees over a set period of time and holds that temperature for seven hours, a filter reset indicator, three fan speed settings, operating modes (cool, energy saver, fan only) -- all of these controls are duplicated on the unit itself, but I haven't touched any of them, relying entirely on the remotes. These two air conditioners are attractive units, in white, that look like twins and will make a good appearance where ever they are installed. I had help installing them -- help in the sense that I went out for some needed caulk and looked in on the process occasionally, but it went well using the two existing wall sleeves for two very old 5000 and 8000 BTU buckets that we're well rid of -- they did give us a dozen good years.
It took two capable jacks-of-all-trades a couple of hours to install both. It's easy to recommend either or both of these air conditioners separately or together. Yes (2) No (0)  Report Yes (2) No (0) Purchased about a month ago. Does a very good job cooling and auto remote is a great feature. It was pretty easy to install as long as you have 2 big, strong men to help you. My wall unit is near the ceiling, so it would've been hard to maneuver for 1 person due to the size and weight. It needs to be lined up just right so the weatherstripping stays put. They also include trim so if the fit isn't exact inside the sleeve, it'll hide the gaps showing the weatherstripping. I never would have been able to install it myself. It looks nice and does a good job cooling off my living room which is 15x18. I haven't used the remote yet. Happy with the purchase so far.
