Bought a unit less than a year ago. The unit leaked onto my wood floors, causing them to buckle. Now the unit will not go below 74 degrees and it's the middle of summer. I called numerous time but was only given the run

I was finally referred to Diamond Ice, their alleged warranty/repair company who confirmed the unit was broken after they had already sent a company out there who initially said the unit was broken. What you think you save with the purchase of these units, you spend on service technicians who can't fix the problem or get the parts. stuck with over 160 Islandaire PTAC units. I maintain it every year so maybe that's why I've had a better experience than others. get another if this one died. "Islandaire thru-wall air conditioner and heater unit" Don't buy from this company. Cheap units that constantly break-down and then zero customer service from Islandaire. They don't return phoneHonestly don't know what these people are doing all dayThe receptionist is the only person that answers the phone and she tries to get you to call the installer ..... only

Fan blades are brittle and break-these they covered under warranty. Closed loop freon system leaks in 30+ units (and still counting....), they will not cover. $445 per unit to repair. After being in business for 20 years I expect better. called to purchase a different ptac from said let me guess - it's the Age 18-24 25-34 35-44 45-54 55-64 65 and older Gender Male Female I bought this unit to replace my 15 year old Frigidaire window unit (which still works, just lacks modern efficiency).

It blows a large amount of cold air and then turns off completely. The room it's in is 22ftx18ft with 10 foot ceiling and the unit rarely even runs. It's slightly louder than I'd like, but considering its size it's to be expected. My only complaint would be that the remote is a bit thick and bulky . My advice is to use the remote instead of the controls on unit as the plastic buttons on unit front WILL eventually wear thru and look terrible with holes in front panel of unit. Yes (0) No (0) Report Yes (0) No (0) I was suprised how fast the air conditioner cooled down my entire downstairs. It is in my living room and cooled off 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, dining room and side room. My house is not huge but it 10x better then the last AC we had Yes (9) No (1) Report Yes (9) No (1) Works great in our big room, easy to operate. Like how you can direct air to different parts of the room. Helps keep my kitchen area cooler too. We normally do not get so many hot days in our part of the country but in recent years temperature has risen quite a bit and the heat has become unbearable inside at night.

Room went from 96 degrees down to 78 in a few hours. Wish we would have got one years ago. Going to buy another one for our vacation home. We put ours through the wall. Yes (7) No (0) Report Yes (7) No (0) The unit arrived at Walmart pickup two days earlier than scheduled. Installed the unit and it worked for our garage purpose perfectly. The heating supplement kept moisture from forming with temperature change. Yes (5) No (0) Report Yes (5) No (0) My unit was form fit into my dining room wall and works great. My only negative was the lack of screening over the ventilation areas which allow tree seed pods to enter and collect within the cooling area and clogging the drain access. I bought this air conditioner for a 1120 sq ft. mobile home. It stated it would cool up to 1500 sq ft. After a month, I ended up purchasing a 8000 btu for a bedroom, now I wish I had purchased the 12000 btu instead. The 25000 btu and the 8000 btu together can not cool 1120 sq. ft. And I will add the mobile home has a shingle roof not a medal roof.

Both ac have to stay on ON all day down on about 65 degrees or so to feel the least bit cool in the mobile home. I have thought about purchasing another one for another bedroom in the mobile home, but I don't think I would purchase Frigidaire, I have been looking and comparing other models. If I purchase another one, it would be a different brand, by the time I purchase all these window units, I could have put central heat and air in the mobile home which is the reason I purchased the ac with heat. The heat pump in the mobile home went out. I bought this a month ago and would of love to use this as a second room option. Does not cool well in the larger room. Also, shuts on/off and doesn't cool continuous.Thank you for sharing your A/C experience with us. How big is the room that you're cooling? If the unit has reached its set temperature, the A/C will turn off. I recommend changing the set temperature or cooling setting. I hope this helps!
