Plus, the A/C is fighting the afternoon and evening sunlight that comes through the window. I'm very pleased with it for the price. The box it comes in states that the A/C fits a minimum of 23" width. Well, my window width is 19". So, I was hesitant to buy it. But, after unpacking it, the width of the A/C without the "fins" to keep bugs out is just about 15". So, I knew it would fit my window. In fact, I only installed the right-side "fin", and didn't bother with the left-side "fin". I used the foam insulation the unit comes with (cut to proper length) and pushed the A/C unit up against the foam as far left as it would go, giving me a proper seal on the left side of the window. Then, I extended the right-side "fin" to meet the right side of the window. It's not the quietest A/C I've used, nor is it the loudest.

For the price, it's fine. I recommend this A/C, especially given its price. Surged to 590 watts then settled (on high cool on the coldest setting) at 485 watts. I placed a thermal blanket over my vent screens to hold in air (otherwise the cold air goes right out and it's pointless) and within three minutes it was legitimately cold in the tent. Step outside and it was exhaustingly hot, climb in and it was heaven, during he bottest part of the day. This provided the ability to nap for an hour or so in the hot afternoons with a light blanket on. At night pull out your thermal blanket, you're gonna need it. My friend liked the setup so much he went and bought a unit himself, (different brand) and came back. He was rather displeased with his purchase although it held him over for the long weekend. By itself the same btu AC unit he bought was running 680 watts and not doing as good a job. He returned it when we got back and bought the same one I had, saving about 20 dollars. Now that I knew for certain it worked, I went home and I modified my tent to allow a snug fitting without having gaps around my door.

This raised the efficiency even higher and when my wife went in the backyard to check it out, I came out 30 minutes later to wake her up!! I have installed it in a 12x12 sunroom between camping trips, very little insulation and massive Windows, and this unit will cool it to the same temp as the house within 5-10 minutes. It's a bit of a shock when you come in from the pool. Great unit and for similar uses I highly recommend it!! I would have given this machine a five star, but the top part doesn't fit my window completely. I've purchased this machine cause my house have central air conditioning, it is really wasteful since I live by myself most of the time. Just by putting this AC on the low cool setting, my room felt like a fridge with my thermostat reading at 66 degrees. However, I do have an air stopper under my door and the window is pretty insulated.
