Frigidaire 5,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner This item is no longer available for purchase. 16.0(w) X 12.0(h) X 15.2(d) 110 Volt 15 or 20 Amp Circuit (Parallel Plug) 110V Grounded Outlet or Grounding Adapter Required I purchased this product 3 weeks ago to replace a 12,000BTU Frigidaire unit. Initially, I was concerned with the sound from a larger unit. However, this unit is pretty quiet compared to most units this size. Also, this unit brings down the temp. quickly and easily cooled down 1000 sq. feet. It got so cold within an hour that even when the temp rises to 100+ outside, I end up turning it off for a few hours to prevent it from snowing in the house. Only downfall is that you have to remove the inside cooling component and install and mount the outer shell in the window before installing the inside component from inside the house. I purchased this air conditioner in 2012 but had not installed it immediately but thank god that it was within the 1 year because there was a malfunction that Sears covered within the year.

Because of the malfunction, I decided to add a 2 year warranty and every summer since then it has been working with no problem. Summer 2015, I try to turn it on and it's just blowing hot air. Called Sear to inquire about the warranty and is told that I am out of warranty and that I can not place it under warranty because there is something wrong with, however I have the option to pay for someone to come out to fix it and it will cost $109 just for the person to come out to my home and this does not include parts, and only then when the issue is fixed, I am able to place the a/c under the warranty which is about $79 for one year. I felt that this item was defective when I got it and now I am stuck with it and forced to purchase a whole new unit. I had a hard time choosing from all the units, but the Elite had the most reviews. And no where does it say its made in the U.S.A. Consumers Report verified it. Its quiet,its cold and its 115 volts. Oh the price was excellent.I'm a happy camper

Great buy for hot summer days It is freezing us out of our mobile home! We had a frigerdaire model before that this window unit fit right in the place of. inside ac unit fan not workingEasy to install for 2 people and froze us within 3 minutes . electric ac unit for carsOutside was 105 heat index and we didn't know it . best filter for ac unit The air conditioner works as required. Only downfall is it is fairly large to place in a window. A firm structure will need to be built or support installed to support such a large unit. Its keeping the guys cooled off on these hot days..... Bought the first one back in June of 2011, it was quiet, and cooled great, it was in my living room area of my 1500 sq. ft. house. Had a smaller unit in our bedroom, I liked the new unit so much, I bought another of the 15100 btu for the bedroom,, the two working g together keep the whole house cool.

Well 5 years later, the first unit died, can't blame it though, south Texas heat and humidity. So he'll yeah, just replaced it with the same kind, and the two are working great, energy efficient too, I highly recommend this unit.... This window unit works really well, cooling the square footage it advertise. Love the energy saver on this unit. YES IF YOU ARE HANDY IF you are not handy DO NOT BUY this unit. It took us couple of hours to put it together and my husband is pretty handy .....not easy to put together and super heavy . It had good reviews on the power of unit , so we will see but again if you are not really up to the challenge do not buy I bought to replace my old Frigidaire unit that was the same btu. It fit right in the same case as the old unit. So in about 10 minutes it was installed. It will cool 16x30 ft room easily. It is much quieter than my last unit. It cools very well. It can be used with the fan running continuously or, for energy savings, there is mode where the fan cycles off when additional cooling is not required.

That mode did not work well for me as the other side of the room got warm before cooling resumed. In a room with good air circulation that may not be a problem. The air conditioner is a little larger and heavier than other brands of the same capacity. Bottom line: I have owned and used this for several weeks and would buy it again. This air conditioner has work great. Even in the middle of the summer in Mississippi. The unit keeps our dining room and living rooms very cool. The remote also comes in handy for changing setting when you do not feel like getting up. This unit replaced a 25000 btu I live Louisiana when it went out last WK the heat index was 109. I had to get another one it was between the Lg or Kenmore coming from my mom n dad who loved sears n Kenmore they had washing machines n everything else that was Kenmore.so I chose the Kenmore .this lil15100 is better then the 25000. It blows colder air.the heat index was a 109-110 today and I got cold in here.sears was great they loaded it for me n everything.my son put it in with no trouble.maybe some good things never change.its on sale what a bargain if you need one go get it.well worth the price.that baby works in this Louisiana heat

Window Air Conditioners in Air Conditioners This product is great. It is a little complicated to install so make sure to completely follow all instructions. So far, very good Purchased approximately two weeks ago. Extremely cold air, doing a fantastic job cooling 800sq ft section of house. Install was fairly simple for someone who can read directions and follow them and be able to improvise some due to the nature of homes never being the same. Energy saver and sleep functions work well. Initial machine I purchased had some kind of rattle tat would throttle up when the fan was turned up, and SEARS was great about taking it back and replacing it for free (was within the 7day return limit). Replacement machine working without problem. I did go ahead and purchase 5yr protection plan after the initial return. So that if anything goes wrong after 7days I won't have a brick to deal with and they will replace it afterwards.Most folks will need two people for install, as its a bit heavy.
