Everything was sourced for free except for tools. If you don't, you could mistakenly request a new power supply when it's your console that needs repair. Solution 1: Reset your internal power supply The Xbox One S console has an internal power supply that works in all regions worldwide. If your console won't turn on, it may simply need a power reset. Often, power issues are due to the power supply resetting after a power surge.

Note Because the console has a built-in surge protector, you should not connect it to an external surge protector. If you connect the console to another surge protector, the console cannot reach the full power that is needed for optimal performance. To reset the internal power supply, follow these steps: Unplug the power cord from the console. Plug the cord back into the console, and then press the Xbox button on the front of the console. If the console turns on, the internal power reset worked. Do this step in the future if the problem happens again. If the console still doesn't turn on, try the following: Check that the wall outlet you are using is working with other devices. Check that the power cable is firmly connected to the wall outlet and to your console. Ensure that you're using the power cable that came with your console, and that it's the correct cable for your region. If your console still will not turn on, it will need to be serviced.

Check whether the Xbox power button on the front of the console is lit. This is the quickest way to determine if your console is receiving power.

If it isn't lit, touch the button to see if it lights up. You don't need to follow the remaining steps if the button is lit. Your console is getting power and your power supply is working. You might be experiencing a video issue if the Xbox button is lit but the screen is blank. This indicator shows you the status of your Xbox One console. To troubleshoot your Xbox One power supply, follow these steps: Make sure to plug in all power cables before you check the LED status light. It's important to check that you've securely plugged the cables into both the wall outlet and the console. The LED color indicates if the power supply is working correctly when not connected to your console.

Check the color of the LED light on the power supply. Power supply is okay Console is in standby or off Power supply is unplugged or malfunctioning No LED or flashing orange Troubleshoot the power supply Power supply displays a solid white or a solid orange light: Your power supply is working and your console is receiving power. Important The light on the power supply may be orange even when not connected to the console or when the power supply is not working correctly. Make sure that you connect the power supply cables to a wall outlet and the console. If the power supply light turns from orange to no LED when you connect it to the console, follow the troubleshooting steps in Solution 1 to reset your power supply. Power supply displays no light or a flashing orange light: You may need to replace your power supply. To verify that you need a new power supply, follow the troubleshooting steps in Solution 1. This issue can occur when you enable Instant-On power mode.

In this power mode, your console can download and install updates. On occasion, there may be an update being downloaded or installed, which may interfere with the startup of the Xbox One console. To determine if this is the issue, unplug the power supply, wait a few minutes, and then plug the power supply directly into a wall socket and try to turn on the console. If this works, you’ll want to turn off the Instant-On power mode: Double-tap the Xbox button or scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide. Scroll down to Settings. Change the power mode to Energy saving. There are two important aspects to correct placement: The Xbox One console and power supply have internal fans. Make sure not to block these fans. See How to position your Xbox One S or original Xbox One console. Make sure both the console and the power supply are on a flat and stable surface. If the fans are blocked, your console or power supply may be overheating. If this condition continues, it could result in damage to the console or the power supply.

Your Xbox One power supply is equipped with internal surge protection. Plug the power supply directly into a wall outlet. Some surge protectors can cause the power supply to not work as designed. This can affect performance. If you continue to experience the problem, try the following: Try another wall outlet. Wall outlets sometimes malfunction. Connect your console and power supply to a different outlet, and then test again. Note Test the outlet with another device before you test your Xbox One console and power supply. If possible, borrow a power supply from a friend's Xbox One console. Try that power supply on your console. If your console works, there's a problem with your power supply and you need to replace it. You need to replace the power supply if the light is still off or flashing orange. You can order a replacement Xbox One power supply from Device Support.
