how to recharge wall unit ac

I want to charge my PS3 controllers (SIXAXIS) without having the PS3 running (because most of the time when it's running, I'm actually using the controllers). Since the device charges over standard USB (mini USB) I thought it was going to work with any off the shelf USB wall plugs. But I've tried with: Apple charges (iPhone - several different generations, iPad) Random third-party generic USB charger But none of them were able to charge the controller (at least the lights never flashed on the controller). I have noticed there are (expensive) third party PS3 controller charger stations available, so it has to work somehow. Why can't the normal wall plug chargers, that are able to charge way more advanced hardware than the PS3 controller, charge them? I'm aware of this question (Can you charge the PS3 over regular USB) but it asks about PC USB charging. I want wall-plug charging. The Sony DUALSHOCK 3 controller requires a USB handshake with the AC adapter before accepting any connection.
If your wall-plug charger contains the circuitry required to negotiate the handshake, then it should work provided it can supply the minimum amount of current. So in other words, you need a charger built specifically for the PS3 controllers, or else be able to negotiate a handshake with a PS3 controller. The SIXAXIS gets its power through a USB mini-B connector. A Motorola Charger would work, as it also uses the mini-B connector. **My friends have tried charging their PS3 Controller in all sorts of ways; the light never came on but the controller was still being charged. Maybe you could just leave it connected to your Apple/Satnav/GPS/Camera charger for a while and see if anything happens. Try plugging your remote into your laptop, or desktop if you have one. The remote will not come on when plugged in but, if you leave it there for about 10 minutes, it should be ready to go.Browse other questions tagged ps3 controllers or ask your own question. [Grayson’s] system suffered some damage over the winter that caused it to vent its refrigerant, avoiding an explosive situation. Before he can chill out inside he’ll need to recharge it and he’s chosen to use propane in his cooling system. According to our friend Google this is not his original idea, but has been done many times before. [Grayson] makes the point that although propane is flammable it’s not necessarily any more dangerous in a fire than Chlorodiflouromethane, or R22, which is the nasty little gas that fled his system for its new home in the upper atmosphere. The video above includes a brief explanation of recharging the system and the tools needed. We’d need to mill this over for quite a while before working up the gumption to give it a try. For now we’ll stick to [Grayson’s] more pedestrian hacks like making some servo motors sing or easing our yard work woes.Imagine not having to buy batteries again and again. Connecting your GPS watch to your computerMessage 1 of 2 Sony MP3 plawyer NWZ-E354 Battery Charge Issues I orignaly posted on this a while back and was never able to resolve the issue:  My Battery charge does not hold for more than 72 hours real time, regardless of play.  I had bought the NWZ-E354 specifically because the box said 50 hours of play time (subject to certain conditions which I followed) which lasted barely a year, and now my battery charge lasts for 50-72 hours real time, as in from the time a re-charge has been completed, regardless of play or any play at all.  So I had to adapt. I found following these procedures after a complete re-charge; 1)  If you can charge from a wall outlet, you can get small USB-AC outlet adapters anywhere (Winners, The Source, Canadian Tire, Walmart, Target, etc).2)  Once it has charge unplug unit and plug unit in again to continue charge.3)  I usually let the player charge overnight on a wall unit. Post Playing Procedure; 1) Stop all play2) Return to main menu3) Goto Radio4) Return to main menu5) hover over an un-used menu choice (I use Ipod because I have none)6) click on "hold" button7) Wait till power off log come on, and screen goes blank8) Store so as not to touch buttons This method seems to be the best way to preserve longer battery life
. Though if i forget the battery could run down within 50 hours (2 days) of last re-charge. Notes: When the battery has completely run down it can take over 5 minutes before the player turns on and begins to charge.  I stopped using my pc to recharge because of all the sleep & power settings on the pc, I did not want to keep the pc on for hours or all night to re-charge. A USB-AC power adapter to recharge from a wall socket is well worth it (most are under $10) and a USB adapter for the cigarette lighter in the car is an excellent idea (under $10).  This is great for when I'm driving to the gym, I can charge up my player just enough to work out with it on. Just some thoughts. Message 2 of 2, One thing I would like to add is that the lifespan of a battery is directly affected by the amount of charge cycles it has been subject to. Also, depleting a battery down to 0 and then recharging to 100% will negatively impact it's lifespan and current output (mAh) . The performance of the battery after 200 charge cycles is not expected to be the same as it was when the battery was brand ne
