An air conditioner is an appliance used for controlling climate within an area. It is designed to cool or heat air in order to adjust temperature and humidity in a room. The operating principle of the air conditioner is based on the concept of refrigerating cycle, i.e. transferring energy in the form of heat from a lower temperature source to a higher temperature area.
