how to choose an ac window unit

Written In a split AC In a window ACUpdated Actually both are almost equally efficient. What is the difference between a split A/C and Window A/C?Both have the same purpose but in window A/C the whole thing comes in a single unit, while in split A/C the cooling unit (like cooling coil, blower) comes inside the room and the compressor and condensor is kept outside the room. That's why it's called split A/C since the whole unit is split into two.Window A/CComes in single unit, So mostly available in limited capacity up to 2-tonnes.Since coming in one unit, the compressor unit will make noise and will be heard inside the room.Need provision in walls for installation.Cost of the unit is competitively lesser than the split unit.Split A/CSplit into two unit, there for little noise inside the room (compressor is kept outside). No need of special provisions, a hole is drilled to connect both units.Expensive than the window A/C So that's all about it. It's been said window A/C is more efficient than split unit, but it's more towards the lower capacity of the window unit.

If you are looking forward for an A/C purchase, Look at the EER ratio, or simply look at Star Ratings.Higher the star rating the higher will be the energy efficiency.Written I do suggest Split system. i consumes less energy and it leaves you to less cost and energy efficient. split system helps you to cool the room so quickly. the split system may lost for longer years compared to window Ac, So go for Split System.@Electrical Contractor | Air Conditioning Installation FernTree Gully7 reviews 7 reviews Q&A By: Shipping Showing options for 97818 Learn more about this item's freight surcharge You searched: Find $829.00 When will it arrive ? 1 Stop Electronics Center, Inc. Cools the entire first floor of my two story house (about 2000 sq. ft. down stairs). Mostly open concept downstairs (den, kitchen living room, sitting room, front foyer - 18 ft. ceiling in the den area). The cool air rises to about nine feet throughout the entire area.

I can tell because when I walk upstairs I can feel the upper limit of the cool air. HOWEVER - Be aware that ALL these types of window AC units now do NOT have the drain holes in the pan. You WILL get serious mold if you do not cover the unit during the off season and add some type of mold-inhibiting chemical in the pan. I just drill three 1/2 inch holes in the silly thing and be done with it. Quite a chore actually (weighs 152 pounds), but you have to remove the core from the outer cover anyway when you set it up. I manage to do it by myself (6'4" - 200 pounds), but very cumbersome. Really need two people. This unit is not really a window sill unit - it needs a dedicated external stable platform on which to rest. I used 4 cheap Walmart scissor jacks bolted to a 3/4 inch piece of plywood. Covered the plywood with a thick folded piece of tarp so that the condensation run-off from the pan would not delaminate the wood. Be sure to elevate the unit at least a 1/2 inch off the platform to allow the condensation to run out the drain holes (if you decide to drill them).

Can't really say enough good things about this particular unit. Of course it's loud - it's almost 2 and 1/2 tons of REAL AC in your face. Yes () No (3) Report Yes () No (3) Verified purchaser works fine cools house without a hitch Yes (2) No (1) Report Yes (2) No (1) Verified purchaser This is a great unit. It's perfect for our needs. I cools my entire first floor. We have always had Frigidaire in our store!!!!!!!!!!! This was a replacement for an older air conditioner. It provides cooling for a room that required two large air conditioners in the past. If you need large cool power for a large room, I highly recommend this product and model. Great Air Conditioner for the price! It saved me $8500 for a new central air unit for 1800sqft. Cools the whole house, a little bit loud, but hey, you get a lot of cool for a little noise! Good price and compact machine for this size BTU's But could be more quiet and more energy efficient. This is the third one of this particular model that I have bought.
