Very similar to window air conditioners, thru-the-wall air conditioners are window-style ACs designed instead to install through a wall inside a chassis sleeve. In many cases, through-wall units can be installed flush with a wall for a streamlined appearance. It's only steps away from exit M3 of Taipei Main Station MRT. There are many exits at Taipei Main Station and exit M3 is one of the nearer ones to the MRT station. It's also one of the few exits that has both upward and downward escalators (I kinda digress to reviewing the exit but believe me, when you are carrying luggage around and the scarce elevators, escalators are your best friend, not to mention the amount of walking you do in Taipei).As the other reviewers mentioned, there are a lot of shops in the basement and around Taipei Main Station. At least you won't be stuck in the hotel on rainy days.We booked a double room and a twin room. The twin room got upgraded free to a really spacious triple room. The double room is pretty standard; not big but not too small. The rooms looked rather dated. The bed was a bit too springy but we had no problem sleeping. The air conditioning has cooling and heating function but the heating didn't seem to work in our room. Wired and wireless internet are provided;

you have to ask for the Wifi password from the front desk.The breakfast has a pretty good spread of Chinese and Western and gourmet coffee. Take note of the timing though as they don't stay open long.Lastly, this full-service hotel is value for money. When we stayed in March 2013, the price is only slightly more than what you would pay at the business hotels around the area. There are also 4-5 interconnected underground malls beneath the MRT stations and also small food establishments near the hotel, which makes shopping and eating a breeze. Cabs are easy to flag as well. In fact, every morning, there will be at least 3 cabs waiting at the hotel's porch area. We stayed in the family room which consisted of 3 single beds. This is ideal for a family of 3 and it cuts out the need for a rollaway bed request.

The room is also roomy, with a coffee table and two sitting chairs, plus a dressing table and a chair, and also a designated large bench for storing luggage. The pillows were very comfortable - and this is by far, the best pillows I have ever had in any hotel stay. The air-con control was responsive as well. However, the bathroom needs some improvement. There was a screen door attached to the bath tub. It made climbing in and out the tub a troublesome and slippery affair. The bathroom was also built on a higher ground so there was a step up from the hotel room to the bathroom. I am not sure if this is due to the room constraints. It would help immensely if this arrangement could be rectified because it would not benefit elderly guests and young children. The complimentary breakfast buffet was satisfactory. The food served were mainly local Chinese food, which consisted of rice, noodles, and porridge. I like it that there were always fruits in the buffet. Service staff were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: If you are travelling in a group of 3, you can choose the family room which consists of 3 single bed... We stayed @ the Cosmos hotel from 7 ~ 9 March 2013 for 2 nights. We booked the Family room for the 4 of us. We were surprised and disappointed at the size of the room. We expected the family room to be bigger but there was not even enough room for us to unpack our 2 luggage. The room also has no window and the walls were rather thin as we could hear noises from on top and besides us (other rooms as we are staying @ the corner room). The breakfast variety is greater than other local hotels we stayed in as this was an INTERNATIONAL hotel. We saw many business guests wearing suits and having breakfast. The other saving grace is the LOCATION. I would advice TA members to stay here if you are going to Taipei for 1st time as it is really very nicely located. It is connected to the Taipei Main Train Station, Taipei High Speed Rail and Taipei MRT. There are also 3 underground shopping malls under the hotel.

Overall the location saves the hotel if you dun mind small rooms, business-like atmosphere and slightly old and dated hotel. NOTE : if you are going to Taipei by Train or THSR (like us), the hotel is located next to exit M3. Exit M3 is on the METRO side of the main train station (M for Metro). Please beware that the place is HUGE, VERY HUGE with more than 15 exits, so finding M3 is not as simple as it seems. Walk towards the Taipei Metro Station and you will see all the M series exits. Go up M3 escalator and turn left. After the "bao" shop, you will see the hotel entrance. Looking Booking and TripAdvisor I choosed DongWu H in Taipei, but it was full the first day of my visit. I gave to the taxi driver the wrong address of this hotel: place and aspect seemed me very disappointing. Happily my second choose was Cosmos. Very nice front and place. Perfect situation (train, metro) to travel with high speed or normal speed train. Near the beautiful Peace Park (please, spent one hour in the morning).

Front desk very kind and useful. Mr Gilles helped me to change the booking in Dong Wu for the second day. The breakfast, perhaps the best in a lot of years: soup, ommelettes, ... everything very good quality. Room Tip: I like a window looking the street. This hotel is located in the very heart of Taipei City: *Next* to the main station, it's easy getting there from the airport and back as well as for getting around town using the subway (connects to virtually all top sights of the city). The hotel focuses on an international clientele, differing from the big Western hotel chains as it is especially popular with business and leisure travelers from Asia. As a European, this made my Asian experience even more genuine. Came with my parents and stayed here for 4 nights( first 2 nights and last 2 nights) from 12 Mar to 19 Mar. We really enjoyed our stay here. It's location is centralised and accessible to all parts of Taipei/Taiwan. HSR( High Speed Railway), Metro Station and Railway station(M3 exit) all within 5 mins walking distance.
