I installed one of these in my 12 X 24 foot shop . The temp would often get near 90 degrees by afternoon . this unit replaced a KOLD FRONT 8000BTU Portable AC unit that never really cooled the bedroom and was very noisy, the GE took about a half hour to install and keeps the bedroom at... Works well and cools a 12x18 foot bedroom just fine, but it is unbearably noisy.

Looking for one that hums Age 18-24 25-34 35-44 45-54 55-64 65 and older Gender Male Female We purchased individual units when our central heating and air conditioning went out. We purchased this unit for the guest room. If it gets really warm, this unit cools things down quickly and it has some really great features as well. It doesn't make a lot of noise either. With the energy saver option, it cycles on and off to control your room temperature. We also really like the delay feature and remote. The installation was pretty easy too. We liked this one so well, that we purchased a couple more units and we went with GE AS WELL. So far we are very happy with our purchases. But the thermostat hardly reads right. I will have it set on 70 and it will say it's 64 in the room when it's actually 73 in the room.

I think something could have happened in the shipping because I hear a small rattle sometimes. It's got a piece of the stuff that's wrapped around it when shipped on the inside, like the white foam, so it's made with cheap parts. I was familiar with GE and like their appliances but am very disappointed. It could be because I live in FL and it's really hot but I'm used to small ac units getting the room ice cold. You can get a better unit for your money. The remote is handy and the filter check lets you know to clean the filter are the only good things about it.
