Using a sound level reader we measured the sound at 35 yards away from the air conditioning unit and got readings of between 72 and 75.  At 15 yards we hit 80 decibels. At 85 decibels hearing can begin to be damaged, according to a national standard. We went to Lakewood's Building Department where supervisor Mike Molinski is well familiar with the problem,"It's forming a funnel right at this neighbor’s house and we understand that's a huge problem and we're very eager for the school board to have construction completed and fix that," said Molinski. Lakewood School's construction manager Jim Reitenback agreed that something has to be done. A gate for the front of the enclosure is back orderedand won't be in for at least another month. Yeah, but what's that gonna do about noise. It's just a gate, I mean it should be insulated or something," said Scherzer. Reitenback was helpful and readily admitted the gate won't be enough. He is looking at and promises to take additional measures.
