The modernization was agreed on the condition of a substantial reduction of yearly energy costs.

The Original belt driven fans had rather high energy demand causing high energy costs. There was hardly and belt driven system which could satisfy the requirement of the user. The use of direct driven fans without housing ( generally known as Plug fans) reduced the energy demand to a large extent. In addition to this, annual servicing cost also reduced considerably as Plug Fans are maintenance free. The manufacturers and users of AHUs recognized the advantages of Plug fans and modified their equipment accordingly.
