air conditioner unit for cars

In April 2009, Mayor Bloomberg signed a bill giving NYC the toughest laws against vehicular idling, with stiff fines for repeat offenders. Three months later, AP reporters caught the mayor repeatedly flouting the law, with his chauffeur and security detail sometimes leaving their engines running for an hour while waiting for the mayor. Bloomberg had to apologize, but ever since he's presumably had a team of engineers working around the clock to come up with a solution to keep his SUV cool when he's not in it. Well, they finally had a major breakthrough, and yesterday they did some beta-testing! As you can see from these photos obtained by the NY Post, they're experimenting with a high-tech solution that will enable the mayor to step into a pre-chilled, hypocrisy-free SUV. To be honest, the science at work here is beyond our primitive understanding, but to put it in layman's terms, it seems engineers have connected what appears to be a standard residential A.C. unit onto the rear window of Bloomberg's SUV.

Then, using a complicated series of "extension cords" and—no doubt—some sort of nuclear fusion, the A.C. unit will be "plugged in" to an electrical power source. At press time, it was unclear how many miles of extension cord the mayor will need to conduct official business within the five boroughs, but clearly this innovation will be an enormous boon for New York's troubled extension cord industry. (Rumors that Bloomberg was sourcing the extension cords from Malaysian sweatshops could not be confirmed.) Speaking to the Post, Bloomberg's spokesman said yesterday was just an experiment, adding that "there is far less emissions corresponding to the power of a single air conditioner on the grid than idling a V-8 engine." And by attaching colorful plastic ribbons to the AC's vents, Bloomberg's backseat is bound to be far more festive!Be Sure To Maintain Your AC System If you’ve noticed that your AC system is showing signs of wear, you’re not alone. Your vehicle’s air conditioning unit is designed to move heat from the inside of your car to outside of it.When this happens, the refrigerant is cooled, and it changes form a gas to a liquid, which then passes through the expansion valve and to the evaporator. Once the evaporator receives the liquid-state refrigerant, it loses pressure and cools the remaining liquid.

If you keep your air conditioning unit turned on, the refrigerant goes through this cycle continuously. If any of these components is damaged, it can turn your cool car into a furnace during the summer months. When your air conditioning unit is not working as it should, bring your vehicle to Beas Auto Repair. One of our trained air conditioning specialists will inspect your car’s air conditioner, all lines, the evaporator and the compressor for leaks and wear. When your air conditioning unit is not working as it should, bring your vehicle to Advance German Car, conveniently located in San Pedro, California. 1953 Chrysler Imperial with factory trunk mounted "Airtemp" systemBecause of the dry desert air, car coolers were popular in the southwestern United States states of California, Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, and Nevada.Automobile air conditioning systems are a closed pressurizedIt consists of a compressor, condenser, accumulator that is sometimes called a receiver dryer, and an expansion valve or an orifice

tube and finally an evaporator. These components work together in your automotive ac system to create an output air temperature in the low 40° Fahrenheit range. When you boil it down, the most important function of the automobile air conditioning system is to turn a high pressure Freon to a low-pressure refrigerant and this is done by the orifice tube or theIn the picture to the right the low pressure side is highlighted in blue and the high pressure sideMost systems today use the orifice tube type systems. will find some vehicles that use an expansion valve instead of theAn example would be heavy equipment, large trucks and a lot of Chrysler vehicles use the expansion valve. will have either one or the other but not both. In a basic air-conditioning system, the heat is stored and transferred in the following steps. The refrigerant leaves the belt driven clutch operated compressor as a high pressure, highIt is moved towards the condenser, where the

It will not seal large refrigerant leaks. sure to follow the directions that come with the kit carefully so you don't make things worse. the condenser the refrigerant is then circulated to the accumulator or receiver dryer where moisture and contaminants are removed. where most of the Freon is stored until it is needed. expansion valve or orifice tube controls the flow of the refrigerant into the evaporator that is mounted inside the passenger compartment. It's this step that converts the freon from a high pressure to a low one. This is where the auto AC system is the coldest. In fact if this step is not controlled properly the evaporator can turn into a block of ice.

Many manufacturers place a probe on or near this part so they can monitor exactly how cold the evaporator coils are. may have heard people talk about low out put of cold air due to ice and not really understand why. You would think ice is a good thing on a hot day! If the evaporator freezes airflow through it is actually reduced and along with it the air temperature from the ducts is not as cool as it could be. Heat absorption from the air inside the passenger compartment by this low pressure Freon causes the liquid to vaporize and move out of the evaporator as a gas. The refrigerant then returns to the compressor as a low-pressure gas, where it is compressed into a high-pressure vapor as the system starts another cycle. note when you understand this flow and operation of the automobile air conditioning system you have also learned how your home ac works as well To understand the operation of the five major components of an automotive A/C system remember that the air-conditioning unit is divided
