As such, it would seem that the display should not change to show the actual temperature. If the display read-out changes, then the air conditioner may require service.

Would have had a problem. As it turned out, I did not need the extension as the original window kit fit my window perfectly.

But I feel sure that if needed, the extension would have worked just as well. I have been dealing with an oversized window for years and trying to get the De'Longhi portable a/c unit to fit. This product is perfect!! I no longer have to put boards or foam in my window to seal it off. I recommend this item to everyone that has a large window. My window is really tall so I needed something to extend it. The buttons are kind of useless because they pop out at the slightest movement. Found 4" skinny cable ties at the hardware store. The De'Longhi large window extension kit worked well in the sliding glass door. Easy to install, no cracks and perfect size. I haven't used it yet, but it appears to do the intended purpose. I need it for my sliding glass door. However, it is way over priced for what is physically is...just a little metal extension. I'd buy it again because it solves a problem and is the only game in town. I would recommend it to anyone who has a sliding glass door.

I purchased this for my a/c and one for my daughter's a/c. It was just what we needed on the windows in our Florida rooms. These windows are very long and the a/c didn't come with a long enough extension. They are a little pricey but they work well and look better than trying to extend with a piece of wood or cardboard. It works with the pieces that come with air conditioner, and between them all, you can accommodate any vertical window opening. Too expensive, but works well. I ordered this extension kit because the De'Longhi air conditioner needed to be set up by my sliding glass door. My brother-in-law set up the whole thing. The pins provided were not very good. They kept dropping out until he provided a way to keep everything together. The installation looks perfect, and no air is leaking in or out. He also installed a good quality weather stripping on both sides of the extension, which provides a good seal.
