If you live in a manufactured or mobile home and are a current customer of Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), there’s good news for you. Synergy Companies has recently re-launched an energy efficiency program specifically for mobile home residents throughout PG&E territory – this includes areas such as Fresno and the Central Valley, the San Francisco Bay Area, and more. This program, officially called the Direct Install for Manufactured and Mobile Homes Program, offers a number of energy saving measure at no cost to the customer. Eligible customers can receive a number of energy saving measures for their home. Some are basic items like compact fluorescent lamps (CFL’s), which generally provide the same amount of light as an incandescent lamp, but using about ¼ the amount of energy. Also included are low-flow showerheads and faucet aerators – both of which reduce the amount of hot water you use, which saves on the natural gas used by your hot water heater. In addition to those measures, we also offer services for your central air conditioner.

As part of the program, we can perform a 5-point tune-up on your air conditioner, including cleaning your condenser coils, replacing your air filter, and adjusting the refrigerant levels in your air conditioner to ensure it is running at an optimal level. Lastly, we are very excited about a new measure that has recently been approved for inclusion in the program – a brushless motor retrofit. Every central air conditioner has a fan motor that blows the cool, conditioned air through your ducts into the home. Most of these motors are called PSC motors, which are not very efficient. As part of this program, we can replace these inefficient motors with a brushless motor, which uses less electricity to run, helping your air conditioner to be more energy efficient. This would normally cost customers several hundred dollars – but through this program a customer can have the brushless motor installed at no cost!
