Our lp1015wnr behaves like the second answer: blinks after setting temp, then reverts to another temp. But in the first answer and the manual, it says the unit is defective and should be serviced if the number does not stay at the set temp.1.

If you have the set temperature set for a lower setting and you are not getting cold air, you either have a dirty coils, a dirty air filter or that your thermostat is not working. When you initially set the desired temperature, the unit should blink and then go back to the current temperature (which is the room temperature). It will cool the room until it reaches the set desired temperature. If you watch it over time you will notice the display showing the temp will go down by a degree at a time until it reaches the desired temperature.
