Located in the return air of the evaporator Connects air conditioning components through the use of electrical wiring to control system operation Electrical System Control Types (General) A key component of the compressor that controls its operation. A belt-driven, high pressure pump, which circulates the refrigerant through the air conditioning system.

Compressors are mounted via brackets in the engine compartment Systems can have one or more compressors Compressor Type / Sizes A material, which possesses high heat transfer capabilities. Acts as the medium for heat transfer, which facilitates the movement of heat from the passenger compartment to the outside air. Refrigerant, under varying pressures, exists in different states, and performs different heat absorbing functions Under low pressure, refrigerant exists as a gas which can absorb heat

Connects air conditioning components by means of hoses and fittings in order to transport refrigerant throughout the system Hose / Fitting Types Rejects heat, which was transferred to the refrigerant, by the evaporator, from the passenger compartment of the vehicle. As heat is rejected, gas refrigerant condenses to a liquid. Generally located outside the vehicle (skirt or roof) Systems can have one or more condensers Located within the condenser Removes moisture and particulate matter from refrigerant within the liquid line. Moisture in the refrigerant of an air conditioning system causes system contamination and eventually could lead to total system failure. Allows for visualization of the filtered liquid refrigerant to assess the level of moisture and/or particle contamination within the system. Acts as a "spray nozzle" to meter refrigerant into the evaporator coil from the liquid line. High pressure created from compressor operation is lowered by the expansion valve.

Transfers heat, contained in the passenger compartment air, into the refrigerant, which is circulated by the compressor, through the evaporator coil. During this transfer process, the air is also filtered and dehumidified. Generally located inside the interior of the vehicle Systems can have one or more evaporatorsBus air conditioning unit Bus air conditioning unit The most reliable HVAC system for transit applications is now better than ever. Five students hospitalized after air conditioning breaks on bus in Lake County Christal Hayes Contact Reporter Five high-school students were treated for heat exhaustion after the air-conditioning unit broke on the charter bus they were riding in Saturday night, Lake County Fire Rescue said. The students were on a trip from Alabama visiting theme parks in the Orlando area. They were on their way back to Alabama when the air conditioning in one of the three charter buses stopped working, said fire rescue spokeswoman Elisha Pappacoda. The bus pulled over near U.S. Highway 27 and State Road 19 about 7 p.m. after several of the 56 students became unresponsive, officials said. Lake County Fire Rescue and the Groveland Fire Department found five of the students needing immediate medical attention, Pappacoda said. They were taken to South Lake Hospital to be treated for heat exhaustion. Four additional students were treated but refused to be taken to the hospital. © 2016, Orlando Sentinel

MESA, AZ. - A Mesa mother said her children are coming home from school dripping in sweat because their school buses are not equipped with air conditioning.“It's been hot,” said 8-year-old Karissa. “It feels like a desert.” “It makes you want to cry,” parent Jennifer Slater said.“I come home soaked like I got rained on,” said 10-year-old Walter.Since the start of the new school year, Slater said her children, Karissa and Walter, have suffered with no air conditioning for several days on their bus.“We were so soaked in sweat by the end of the day,” Karissa said.“We have the pale, Irish kids so their face is like a red tomato when they are hot,” Slater said.Mesa Unified School District officials said 80 percent of their regular buses have air conditioning, and that the other 20 percent are used when buses are out for maintenance or for the shortest routes. They also said that children can roll down the windows; but the children said that when they do, they are scolded.“
