Don't want an unsightly (and loud!) AC unit hanging out of the wall or window of your home? If you answered yes to these questions, quiet and energy-efficient ductless mini-split AC systems are the solution for you. A ductless air conditioning system provides a flexible solution for your home’s cooling needs and it is a great alternative for room additions or anywhere that ductwork placement is difficult. Ductless air conditioning systems can be installed in the ceiling, on the wall, or near the floor.
What is a ductless, mini-split AC system? Like regular central AC systems, ductless mini-split AC systems place the noisy compressor and condenser outside of your home. But best of all, ductless AC systems: They are virtually silent – much quieter than loud window or central AC systems Ductless air conditioning systems are smaller and less expensive than central AC systems Do not require a basement, or attic, located evaporator unit Eliminate the need for bulky ductwork by using thin copper tubing to pump refrigerant directly to blowers that are neatly mounted on the wall inside your home. home ac unit financingUnlike central AC systems, ductless mini-split air conditioning systems work in reverse during winter, absorbing heat from the air outside and moving it inside to heat your home for efficient year round cooling and heating. air conditioning unit outside fan not working
And, ductless AC systems come in a range of capacities and configurations to fit even the most difficult living spaces. How a Ductless Air Conditioner Works Advantages of a Ductless Air Conditioner system: Easy installation Improved energy efficiency - no ductwork means you lose less than 5% cooling vs. up to 40% for traditional central AC systems, with increased efficiencies up to 27.2-SEER to help lower your utility billsDuctwork installation isn’t required, which means less hassle, less expense and more efficiency for you One outdoor condenser can be connected to multiple indoor units-- each with its own programmable remote for york international air handling unitsindividual zone control Functions as a heating unit in the winter months for better year round energy savings No bulky AC system components inside the home or hanging out of walls or windows -- piping can often be routed through walls to maintain your home’s aesthetic Remote control options enable you to control temperatures in different rooms or zones of the home.
Helps you live a little greener, the R410A refrigerant in most systems is designed to be environmentally friendly. Makes your home more secure. Since units are mounted high on a wall, away from windows, there’s less entry points for burglars You enjoy an unobstructed view all summer, unlike window AC units Learn more about our AC products and services › Already have AC? The advantages of ductless split-systems over room and central air-conditioners are: easy installation, quiet operation, versatility in zoning and design, and security. The split systems also eliminate the loss of cool air as it passes through the ductwork. A key advantage of split systems is their ease of installation. Hook-up requires only a three-inch hole (7.62 centimeters) in the wall for the conduit. Unlike with central air conditioning, you do not need ductwork.
Since the compressor in most ductless split-systems is as much as 50 feet (15.24 meters) away from the indoor evaporator, it is usually possible to cool rooms on the front side of the house, while still hiding the compressor in a less conspicuous area. The compressor units also fit well on flat rooftops. Ductless split-system air-conditioners operate relatively quietly, since the compressor is outside and the evaporator unit’s fan generally runs at a low speed. Variable speed high-efficiency fans are also available. By providing zone cooling, ductless split-system air-conditioners save energy, since only the rooms that are occupied need to be cooled. A thermostat independently controls each zone. Therefore, operating costs are often lower than those of central systems that cool every room, whether it is in use or not. If you cannot afford to purchase an air conditioner for the whole house, you can also buy the system one zone at a time. A single outdoor unit controls from one to four zones, depending on the size of the unit.
