2 ton ac unit

I am planning to purchase a single AC that would operate on my Diesel generator. My Generator is a 5kVA , 8 HP air cooled one. I want to know that If I have to run only one AC on the generator shall I install a 2 Ton Split AC or a 1.5 Ton Split AC? Also I Want to know the diesel consumption by the generator per hour. closed as off-topic by jippie, Scott Seidman, uint128_t, Daniel Grillo, PeterJ This question appears to be off-topic. The cooling capacity is not relevant. The power consumed is important, but you also need to know the current.
AC motors need more current than the minimum required for the power consumption. You also need to make sure you have the right voltage and whether you need single-phase or three phase. The KVA for a motor that consumes 1438 watts will probably be between 1.7 and 2.6 KVA. Watts = VA X Power Factor It is customary for engine generator sets to be designed for 0.8 maximum power factor so 5000 VA X 0.8 = 4000 W would be expected. Power Consumption and cooling capacity. Which one determines the value I am interested in? For an Air conditioner of 1.5 ton ,the power consumption is 1438 wattt and cooling capacity is 5,050 W. Your air conditioning unit works on the principle of a "heat pump". In your case electricity is used to drive the pump. According to the rating plate it will consume 1,438 W of energy while pumping 5,050 W of heat. It is common to quote the coefficient of performance (CoP) for heat pumps as \$ \frac {heat~moved}{electrical~input} = \frac {5050}{1438} = 3.5 \$ which is reasonably good.
The generator is rated at 5 kVA. For a purely resistive load 1 VA = 1 W but your air-con unit will be an inductive load so we'll need to derate the generator by about 20% when converting to watts. Let's go for 4kW. Your 1438 W AC unit (let's call it 1.5 kW) will load your generator by approximately \$ \frac {1.5~kW}{4~kW} = 38\% \$. It should be fine.Browse other questions tagged power ac generator or ask your own question. My ac used to make a fan noise even when turned off  which i thought kept air cool but it stopped completely now when i turn it on it blows warm airIf this device is no longer blowing any cold air, then it may require service. Sir, my lg split ac 24000 btu has some problems that problem in this unit or not , when i started ac 5 minutes running my ac but after 5 minutes why my ac close and not restart please tell me some slution of my problem immediately. The cause could be how you have the LG 24,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner with remote, Model # LW2412ER installed.
Air Conditioners manufactured after 2010 have a Safety Relay which automatically powers the unit off if the condenser overheats. air conditioning units for windowsIf the Air Conditioner is installed in direct sunlight and exposed to constant sunlight, that exposure or the air around the Air Conditioner can cause the unit to overheat. window ac units with heat reviewsIf the unit is in direct sunlight, placing an awning or shade cover over the unit should resolve the issue. good portable ac unitYou may also want to check that there aren't any obstructions around the unit that might block the air flow around the unit that would cause it to overheat. You definitely should not have anything withing 2 feet in the back of the unit since that is where the condenser coils are and that is how the unit transfers the heat it extracts from your room to the outside.
Check that the air filter is not clogged up with dirt, dust and debris, accumulation of those will also cause the unit to overheat. It is highly recommended that you have the unit serviced for regular maintenance to have the evaporator and condenser coils cleaned to keep your unit running at peak efficiency...^IFV What causes my compressor to run below temp, when just the fan is selected, and when powered off. Is it my main power board? What's the part # ? We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this air conditioner. It is not uncommon for the temperature, right outside the vent, to run colder than the selected temperature setting. Sometimes this is necessary to get the entire room to meet the set temperature. unit keeps icing up and room temp display stays at 90.Ive cleaned filter ,vaccumed and clean vents ,fan and entire unit. There are a number of reasons that your LG 24,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner with remote, Model # LW2412ER is freezing up. Your air conditioner is basically a heat exchanger.
As the refrigerant in your evaporator coils is expanded, it causes the coils to cool rapidly. The air inside your home is drawn into the air conditioner through the louvers in the case and blown over these cold evaporator coils to cool the air and a fan blows it back out into your room as cooled air. The heat that was in the air in your room is absorbed into the refrigerant and when the refrigerant gets to the condenser coils, it is compressed, and heats up so that when it comes in contact with the cooler air outside your home, it transfers the heat that was in your home to the outside. If the air coming into your air conditioner is restricted or insufficient, the evaporator coils can freeze up. If the refrigerant in your air conditioner is low, that too can cause the air conditioner to freeze up. If the fans in your air conditioner are not running properly, that can also lead to the unit freezing up. The other factors that cause the freezing up are dirty filters, vents or dirty evaporator coils, which you seem to have taken care off.
If the problem is with having a low level of refrigerant or a problem with your blower fan or refrigerant lines, you will not want to mess with those and will need to schedule a repair service...^IFV my AC window unit, (LG model #LW2412ER), is just over 2 yrs old and the compressor just started staying on There are various reasons as to why the compressor in your LG 24,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner with remote, Model # LW2412ER is "just staying on". Unfortunately, your description does not give enough information to give an accurate assessment of what might be the issue. If you have never had the coils cleaned on this unit, that might be one reason why the compressor keeps running. The condenser in your air conditioner is like a radiator and must stay clean in order to dissipate the heat which was removed from the air. As the coils get dirtier the air conditioner becomes less efficient, which makes it work harder to cool the room. If the coils are dirty enough, the unit will never be able to cool the room and so it won't turn off.
Other reasons may require a repair service. If the contacts inside the temperature control thermostat have burned out, the voltage that the control supplies to the fan and the compressor may not be getting there. Your unit has a component known as a thermistor. The thermistor is a sensor which detects the room air temperature which is connected to the control board. If the thermistor is defective it will not have continuity when it should. If this happens the compressor runs all the time. Other reasons could be due to a defective relay board, a defective temperature control board or a defective main board...^IFV Does this unit have a drain hole for condensation?Condensed water should all flow to the back of the cabinet, when installed properly in the window. In high-humidity areas, this is expected more frequently. LED is not readable how can i fix it only 1 year oldIf the display screen is not operating, then the unit will likely require service.
